I think what you said made a bunch of sense. However, what about this? what if you composed a catchier post title? I am not suggesting your information isn't solid, but suppose you added something to maybe get people's attention? I mean Post new topic / forum is a little boring. You might glance at Yahoo's front page and note how they create article headlines to get people interested. You might add a related video or a pic or two to grab people interested about everything've got to say. In my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit more interesting.
